John Drake Shoes: We reached for the stars … and found one.


When John Drake asked us to find them a brand ambassador, we looked no further than Sisa Hewana. Chosen to play ‘Ace’ on Isidingo – ahead of thousands of others, we might add – Sisa’s mix of sexy style and sophistication fit the John Drake brand spec perfectly. It’s a great match: Sisa is inspirational while still maintaining that ‘man-next-door’ appeal; in the same vein, we’re positioning John Drake Shoes as a cut above in terms of style and quality, while still being affordable.

Of course, having Sisa as a model required photography just as sharp as the man himself. Well, take a look. It’s simple, sexy and striking. We think we captured the best of Sisa and John Drake.

As for the message, we headlined with a motivational quote, from Sisa, that emphasised aspiration and groundedness – once again, reflecting the John Drake brand philosophy.

The ads were featured in the various print media and extended into point of sale, and out of home media.

Surfing at the Sandton Sun

Recently, event promotion company, Synchronised, was tasked with promoting ‘The Light Shines Ahead,’ a talk by Shaun Tomson, former world surfing champ turned motivational speaker/entrepreneur/father/author/all-round good guy. Twyne was asked to be a sponsor and tasked with the event advertising and graphics.

The venue was the Sandton Sun, the date, 3 August.

As a promotions company, you know you’ve done good when the event you’ve promoted packs out, and more chairs need to be brought in to accommodate the extras. It’s especially good when proceeds go to such a worthy cause, in this instance, the charities Cotlands and iCare. Everyone was really stoked.

So hats off to Synchronised; and a BIG thank you from Twyne Ideas Co. It was a blast and an honour working with you.

But the stars of the show weren’t any of the sponsors, nor the charities. The star was Shaun and, I must add, the colourful cast of characters he included in his talk. It’s a compelling account of his life, his loss, and the lessons of the surf.

From the outset it was evident that here was more than just the hot, tanned surfer dude you see in the pics. Shaun is eloquent and engaging, wisely showing how surviving the waves equates to surviving in life. The result is hugely entertaining, sometimes outrageous, often humorous, heartbreaking, and ultimately uplifting.

Sitting amongst the 650-strong audience in the heart of Sandton (doll) might seem like a far cry from Shaun’s world of waves, but thanks to the vivid pictures on the AV screen – some of the biggest waves I’ve certainly ever seen – and the fact that Shaun’s story is for everyone, it hit home.

I walked out almost feeling the salt on my skin. After what was essentially a very intimate talk, I had the sense that, had I met Shaun in the foyer, I would greet him as a friend. I’d just be careful not to say: “Hey, are you Shaun Tomson?” Because—Well, the next time Shaun brings his talk to town, make a point of going. And you’ll find out what happens after that particular question … It’s hilarious.

Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Our team is never satisfied with regular. That's one thing i can vouch for. We will push, and push and push the boundaries, until we arrive at extraordinary. That is what differentiate us from the crowd. Our team is connected to the heart of each project. There is no broken telephone. We feel the beat of each pulse and react accordingly. Thanks team for a very successful first quarter.

January has come and gone before i could even say WELCOME.

Twyne is rocking and rolling.
We have a brand new boardroom. A brand new bar. And some brand new projects.

Before we could say "how was your holiday?" - we already need one!

But this is a great sign in an ever changing and volatile market. We have clients who have left and come back (we know you love us) and clients who are fighting to not leave... This means so much to us. You know who you are!

Valentines is on our doorstep, and the month of love has taken its toll - but it all ends well, when clients LOVE what we do. It makes it all worthwhile.

In between all the deadlines, and strange requests - we do find time for giggles. Team, thank you for always seeing the lighter side of the situation, and for being the calm amidst the storm. It is so important to have that grounding, when things get a little crazy.

Thanks for all your efforts, lets get this party started!

Sowing the seeds of love


McCain is passionate about growing vegetables and want their customers to do the same!

We have put together a Veggie Patch Starter Kit - to encourage them to start and nurture their own little vegetable patch or herb garden at home. The pack consists of Gardening Set, Garden Gloves and Instructions to prepare the area.

Then: Simply plant the Valentines card, and watch the herbs sprout!
